About the Event
Join us October 9th at 1:30 pm (ET) for a joy-filled session in person at the Barnes Foundation. After you register, we will send you information and instructions.
Please note: Due to the current COVID surge, masks are currently required at all indoor in-person programs. Because your and our other program participants’ health is our priority, we can not make exceptions to this policy. Please bring a mask for you and everyone in your party (preferably an N95 or KN95 if possible). We will provide extra masks on site if necessary.
ARTZ @ The Museum is an informal, no-obligation program that offers weekly opportunities to join with others in museums and art centers around the Greater Philadelphia area. It all starts with the art: we look together at 2-3 works of art during an hour of group conversation. Groups are limited in size to 6-8 visitors with dementia plus their care partners to ensure an intimate and comfortable experience for everyone.
The Barnes Foundation is home to one of the world’s great collections of modern European paintings, with numerous works by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, and Modigliani. It also features African art, Native American pottery, Pennsylvania German furniture, old master paintings, antiquities from around the globe, and decorative ironwork. Founder, Dr. Albert C. Barnes arranged his collection in “ensembles,” creating unusual mixed-media groupings of objects from different cultures and time periods.
This program is generously sponsored by Fountain View at Logan Square, a senior living community in Center City Philadelphia. Only a five minute walk from the Barnes!
Additional Support is provided by the Dr. Sheldon Weintraub Fund
Admission is free with RSVP!
But we ask that you make your reservation(s) as early as possible. We keep our programs small and intimate in scale so that everyone feels comfortable and at ease. Reservations are first come, first served.
