Jumpstarting Joy!
Starting our 2nd Decade of Creating Joy and Preserving Dignity for People Living with Dementia and their Care Partners
Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising auction!
Thank you so much for supporting our ARTZ Philadelphia community during the two weeks of our online auction. Through your generosity, we were able to raise $7,930 for our community of people living with dementia and their care partners.
But we still have more work to do… with your help!
Update: An extremely generous donor has stepped forward to give an additional $15,000 to ARTZ Philadelphia when our community of supporters donates $15,000 by December 31st. Please help us raise the remaining funds by December 31st to reach our goal. Your generous gift will ensure a doubly strong and joyful start to 2024 for people affected by dementia in our region. Give today to jumpstart joy for our community!

Jumpstarting joy is what ARTZ Philly is all about… but don’t just take our word for it! Watch this short video clip, filmed during the pandemic, of ARTZ in the Neighborhood community advisors Rosa M. and Ruby R. talking together about how a mindset of seeing people as people first, no matter what challenges they may be living with, creates a joyful sense of belonging.
Receiving a dementia diagnosis can cast a dark shadow over an entire family. It is a diagnosis filled with fear and dread, often thought by patients and physicians as signaling an end to any hope or joy.
But in this video produced by 6ABC News, spotlighting our ARTZ @ The Museum program at the Barnes Foundation, community members Lew S. and Ramona S. reflect on how ARTZ has brought joy to each of them despite the challenges they have faced since Lew’s Alzheimer’s Disease diagnosis.

He shared with us that witnessing the experiences of people participating in ARTZ Philly programs reinforced his belief in the power of the arts to restore human connection and reignite joy.
When dementia disrupts a family’s life, who will be there to reignite joy for them? Join Ken in stepping forward to reignite joy for as many of our community members affected by dementia as possible.
